How introductions work

Behind the index sits a small introductions desk. Describe the training data you are after, and we reply with the vendors whose own published terms suit it. A vendor sees your brief only after you approve that vendor by name.

From form to introduction, in order

1. A person reads your sketch

You gave a ZIP code, an email and as much of the dataset plan as you had settled: route, modality, volume, rights, timing. That is all we ever ask for. Raw data, samples and files never come to us.

2. It is set against the index

Each vendor in the directory is compared on its own published facts: the data types it names, its pricing basis, where it operates, any stated minimum order. Where a vendor publishes too little to judge, it is skipped rather than guessed at.

3. You get the shortlist

An email names the matching vendors, gives the reason for each and links to the pages the facts came from, so you can check them. Up to this point your brief has not left this site.

4. Only a yes moves it

Approve a vendor by name and your brief goes to that vendor alone. Decline, or simply do not answer, and nothing is passed on. Price, contract and any transfer of data are settled between you and the vendor.

Things this site never does

  • Touch data. Nothing is uploaded, stored or inspected here; there is no upload field, and please keep records out of the notes box.
  • Charge buyers or price your project. The numbers you see are vendors' own published figures, each dated.
  • Bargain for you or sign for you. Contracts are made directly between you and the vendor.
  • Grade vendors. Nobody here tests or audits them; the directory repeats what they publish.

Who pays for the index

Vendors do. If an introduction turns into a project, the vendor may pay us a referral fee, either under a referral program it publishes or under terms agreed with us. Buyers pay nothing at any stage, and no fee buys a place in the directory or a kinder description.

Sourcing rules

A figure about a named company is taken from that company's own site and dated. Market figures, such as licensing deals, cite the filing or the outlet that first reported them. Brokers and comparison sites are never used as sources. Changes in vendors' terms go into the terms changelog.

ZIP code first, then an email for our answer, then a sketch of the dataset. A person here compares the sketch with the vendors in the index and writes back naming the ones whose own terms fit.

Introductions only: we are not a training data vendor, and the vendor we connect you with may pay us a fee.

Where is the company based?

Send words, not data: no samples, files, exports or logins through this form, ever.
